Waist and Hip Liposuction

Author: Letty's Staff Writer

Hips and waists represent one of the most popular treatment areas on the body for both men and women.

When this area of the body is proportional for women they will appear to have the perfect hour-glass figure despite their actual weight.

Ideal male contour is broader across the chest and narrower in the waist and hips.

If you don't currently look like this, then liposuction may be the answer for you.

Let's get into the nitty-gritty of "hips and waist liposuction".

What is good body proportion?

This is the quintessential question that touches on what we perceive to be attractive. Certain waist-to-hip proportions for women are perceived as very sensual and alluring.

Men who have an athletic, streamlined build tend to be perceived as more sexually desirable. Women who have narrow waists and fuller rounded hips are among society's most beautiful.

  1. Check This Out:
  2. A study from the University of Texas (at Austin) demonstrated that when people were asked to decide which is more important to attractiveness for women – either 1) smaller waist-to-hip proportion, or 2) the overall weight – the respondents chose #1 smaller waist-to-hip proportion.

It isn't how much you weigh, BUT how your body is proportioned, that truly determines attractiveness.

How can liposuction help with proportion?

There are 2 strategies plastic surgeons may use to establish better contour.

The Subtractive Strategy:

Some women already have enough circumference across their hip areas, but they don't have that "coke-bottle" look because their waists are too thick. For these individuals removing a little fat from the waist is all they need to bring out an hourglass figure.

Men tend to put on weight around the waist and abdomen - so would benefit most from subtractive liposuction to taper the waist and back down to the hip.

The Additive Strategy:

Women who are both too narrow in both the hips and waist may actually benefit from a liposuction-assisted fat grafting to the hip area.

In this instance fat can be harvested from the abdomen or thighs and grafted onto the hip-buttocks area. This would help to establish attractive proportions between waist and hips.

What are some risks associated with liposuction?

It is easy to get the impression that plastic surgery is a snap of the fingers.

It isn't.

You should expect is some downtime, pain and discomfort. And there are risks associated with liposuction as well.

Some of the more common hip liposuction complications are:

  1. Infection. Whenever the skin is pierced bacteria, fungi, and viruses can invade deeper tissues.
  2. Blood or fat clots. These can actually be potentially fatal. After surgery there will be a protocol that you should carefully adhere to help prevent them.
  3. Asymmetry. This is where the final results look off-balanced from one side to the other side.
  4. Scars. Liposuction scars tend to be smaller than those for other types of plastic surgery, but there is some risk that they will be persistent and/or be obvious to the casual observer.
  5. Resulting skin laxity. After liposuction there will be some skin retraction in most patients, but this may not be enough for some patients whose skin was excessively dangling in the first place.

In Conclusion:

Waist and hip liposuction is not a surgery truly intended to removed vast quantities of fat from the physique. It is best used to make patients more proportional thereby enhancing attractiveness.

It's a finesse surgery... not so much a transformative one.

Nevertheless, it is important to understand the associated risks - and take them very seriously. It is still surgery and you will be exposing yourself to some possibly negative consequences.

So do your homework.

Pick a board-certified plastic surgeon that is known for good work in general; and great liposuction work specifically.
